Bike Norway
Mountain Bike Tours to Lillehammer, Norway.
Lillehammer is famous for being the location of the 1994 winter Olympic games but in recent years it has gained a reputation for world-class mountain biking during the summer months.
Situated just 2 hours north by train or car of Oslo's main airport, Gardermoen, Lillehammer is a lively and bustling town with traditional Norwegian architecture and stunning scenery. In the summer it is home to a multitude of outdoor activities that take place in and around the surrounding mountains, lakes and rivers.
Mountain Biking has grown into a major sport in the last 10 years and Lillehammer has invested massively in projects to attract all levels of rider to the area. Hafjell is a large commercial ski area based on the outskirts of Lillehammer and this forms the hub of the mountain biking terrain. Lift serviced biking is available for the adrenaline fuelled downhill runs and bike park areas. There is also access to miles of single-track terrain that equals the some of the worlds best.
One of the major benefits to mountain biking in Hafjell is that although the vertical is big, the altitude is not. The mountains rise up from just above sea level to a height of over 1000 meters, allowing hours of fun without the lack of oxygen often felt in high altitude regions. Of course, in the summer months the light is fantastic and the sun sets very late at night, giving you the chance to get maximum riding time.
